Intro to Yoga/Beginner Series and Classes
Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual roadmap for living your most healthy and happy life. In these 6-week sessions, we’ll explore yogic breathing exercises, an all levels physical practice and brief discussions on yoga theory/philosophy. Build strength, endurance, and discipline—and gain a deeper understanding of the yogic lifestyle and your own body, mind and spirit. This is a great class for anyone new to yoga or as a refresher after being away from it for some time.
Treat yourself! This class incorporates soothing gentle yoga, meditation, pranayama (breath work) and an extended relaxation session. Students might expect candles, aromatherapy, and other treats in some of our Unwind classes. Whether you’ve never tried yoga before, have some basic experience, are a seasoned yogi, or somewhere in between—this class is for you!
Exploring Ashtanga is an all levels class, where students will learn to complete the Sun Salutations while linking each movement to breath. We will also work through the entirety of the Primary Series Standing Sequence and a sampling of the seated sequence, with modifications offered throughout to accommodate different levels of experience. Be prepared to gain an understanding of your mental and physical limits and learn about finding your “grace” – the space between effort and ease where you can fully benefit from each pose, mentally, emotionally and physically. Students must be able to move from seated to standing and back to seated. The Ashtanga sequences make it easy for students to develop a personal practice and give a fundamental understanding that can be applied to all yoga. These classes are taught in a noncompetitive environment to students of all ages and body types.
Vinyasa Flow/All Levels Flow
Vinyasa classes focus on the linking together of movement and breath to create a flow sequence. A bit different from our Ashtanga class, poses can be put in any order, so be ready for some added variety. These classes cultivate balance, flexibility, strength, and endurance, while offering opportunities for each student to learn about him/herself and grow in the practice. These classes are strong and fun!
Open to yogis of all levels, our Vinyasa teachers will offer modifications or challenges to suit each student. Students should be comfortable with moving from seated to standing poses and back to seated.
All Levels w/ MELT METHOD Hand/Foot Treatment
Enjoy this added bonus to Monday's All Levels Class with Sharon- a guided MELT Method hand or foot treatment (using soft treatment balls). MELT is a simple self care technique that slows down the aging process by rehydrating the connective tissue and rebalancing the nervous system. Daily living creates stress and tension within your body. This “stuck” stress accumulates in the connective tissue causing dehydration. This begins as aches and stiffness leading to health issues such as neck and low back pain, headaches, insomnia, digestive problems and injury. MELT is for everyone and puts you in charge of your health and wellbeing.
The hallmark of yin yoga is that poses (floor or supine) are held for about three to five minutes at a time in order to stretch the connective tissue around the joints and bring the practitioner to a state of mental calmness. This soothing, healing practice allows us to settle into the present moment, engaging deeply with the body, mind and spirit.
Happy Hour Flow
Decompress on your mat, not at the bar. Settle in for an hour of feel-good yoga knowing that class costs less than your favorite drink. Drop in to get down. We're turning the tunes up. The right combination of music and movement is going to relax your mind, body and soul during this simple flow. Ashley (500-RYT) knows how to end a busy day the right way. You'll leave the studio wishing happy hour could be every hour.
All Levels Flow w/Chris
Chris's All Levels class incorporates standing and seated poses linked with the breath, resulting in creative, fun, and challenging flow sequences set to a variety of popular music playlists. These classes help students develop strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and self-confidence. Open to practitioners of all levels, modifications and alternate poses are offered as needed to ensure all participants are comfortable and appropriately challenged. Expect opportunities to practice arm balances and inversions! Students should be comfortable with moving from seated to standing poses and back to seated without assistance. Be prepared to have fun!
Not to be confused with Slow Flow, this class will leave you feeling completely rejuvenated. Slow Burnyasa combines traditional vinyasa (breath with movement) with a series of longer-held poses in a moderately heated room (75°-80°).
Let this practice become your own moving meditation.
You'll begin to experience the "slow burn" sensation as you make your way through a series of personalized flows, increasing your body temperature and fueling your internal fire. Heat continues to increase after holding certain postures for longer than usual periods of time. This style of yoga will help you find your comfortable edge, mentally and physically, while improving your balance, stamina, endurance, and posture.
Ashtanga Primary Series
The Primary Series is a defined sequence of poses, linked together with breath, bandhas and drishti. This is a led class, with modifications offered to meet the needs of each student's level of strength, experience and flexibility. Students are encouraged to attend our Exploring Ashtanga classes and gain a familiarity with the poses there prior to taking our Primary Series class.
