intro to meditation and yin yoga
with Stacy Hein

Join Stacy for a four-week series that focuses on deep self-exploration and discovery through the ancient healing arts of meditation and yin yoga. The hallmark of yin yoga is that poses (floor or supine) are held for about three to five minutes at a time in order to stretch the connective tissue around the joints and bring the practitioner to a state of mental calmness.

This soothing, healing practice allows us to settle into the present moment, engaging deeply with the body, mind and spirit. Periods of quiet meditation and pranayama (breath work) will also be incorporated to allow for deeper connection. Discussion and brief periods of lecture will solidify the student's understanding of the practices.

This session is ideal for seekers - join us to deepen your practice. Come to all four sessions or drop in when you can.
All are welcome.

Begins: March 31st - every Friday evening through April 21st
Time: 6-7 pm
Pre-Purchase 4-week session for $55
Class cards and memberships also welcome.
$15 drop in.

somatic yoga and trauma recovery workshop
with Deanna Nagle

Trauma is our reaction to a highly stressful event. Those events and reactions are a personal matter - what is traumatic for one person may be easily brushed off by another person. Oftentimes, this trauma lives in our minds, bodies and spirits until we can effectively process the event. Trauma often catches us off guard – it can be unexpected and devastating. Or it can be more of a long-term trauma that we are living with – such as our past few years of living with Covid-19. When we are traumatized, our bodies tend to tighten and stiffen in an effort to self-protect. We curl inward to instinctively armor our vital organs. This body armor creates tension in our tissues, blocks energy flow and creates feelings of depression and anxiety. This tension often leads to exhaustion, insomnia, reactivity, and other trauma responses. In addition, we often disconnect from our bodies in a state of dissociation.

Through the mindful practices of yoga and breath work, we can gently release trauma from the inside out, calming our nervous systems and softening body armor. Somatic work helps us reconnect our mind/body and nervous system, getting us out of repetitive loops of thinking and dropping into inner awareness, or interoception. Deanna will guide you through gentle, somatic movements, myofascial work and breathing practices designed to help you release trauma and reclaim your energy and peace of mind. This workshop will include discussion/lecture and practice.

Date: Saturday, May 13
Time: 1-4 pm

Fee: $75

reiki level 1 certification
with Shannon Schwartz, Reiki Master/Teacher, RYT 200

What is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The word "Rei" means Universal and "Ki" means life energy. Reiki is administered by laying on hands and has been practiced for thousands of years. Reiki is a very simple and powerful technique that can be easily learned and used by anyone. Reiki can be used for self-healing and relaxation or can be channeled for assisting others. This is not "new-age, woo-woo" mystical magic, but rather is an ancient method of healing, which is growing in popularity and recognition, including as a complement to the practice of Western medicine.

Who should attend this Certification Course? All are welcome. Everyone can use this simple tool to help themselves and others on their healing journeys. We encourage healthcare practitioners, yoga teachers, therapists, and anyone in a service-oriented profession to add this to your skill set. We also encourage anyone interested in personal empowerment and growth to add this to your tool kit.

The workshop will be a combination of exercises, discussion and lecture. Students will learn: the history of Reiki, how to channel Reiki for self and others, Reiki hand positions for self-treatment and treatment of others, how to scan the energy of a client, and how to give a complete Reiki treatment. Students will receive four Level 1 attunements during the course of the day.
